In a ground-breaking achievement, the Institute of Real Estate Management (IREM) launched the South African Gauteng Chapter of IREM on Wednesday 08th 2019. When the internationally acclaimed (IREM) Certified Property Manager (CPM) certification was launched last year by The South African Institute of Black Property Practitioners (SAIBPP) through a partnership with WITS University, Pareto LTD committed to support this partnership.
Speaking on behalf of Pareto, Kevin Roman, the CEO of Mowana Properties congratulated IREM for the successful launch of the South African Chapter. He also spoke of the importance of such programmes and Pareto’s commitment to IREM, “there is also a commitment to ensuring that we develop requisite competencies within the sector, especially amongst black South Africans, who for years played a marginal role, not by choice, but by a system designed to keep them on the periphery.”
The certification of this nature is the very first on the African continent. The IREM CPM designation is currently being offered as an eight-day winter school programme at the WITS Professional Development Hub and is currently only available to existing holders of the WITS Post Graduate Diploma in Property Development and Management.
The first intake of South African IREM Certified Property Managers, who were sponsored by Pareto Ltd, graduated at last year at WITS University, which is currently the only non-American University that is accredited to offer the IREM CPM designation.
On Wednesday 06 2019, the Institute of Real Estate Managers (IREM), hosted the second official swearing-in ceremony of the second cohort of internationally certified CPMs (commercial property managers) on the African continent.
